David Brooks, in a 2012 column on the state of conservatism in America, called her one of the “most influential bloggers on the right.” Ms. McArdle is also known for having coined Jane’s Law, which reads: “The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane.” Her book is called The Up Side of Down: Why Failing Well Is the Key to Success (2014).
