Rebecca Goldstein

Dr. Rebecca Goldstein is a professor of Philosophy & Literature at the New College of the Humanities in London. She is the author of ten books on subjects from philosophy to science, her most recent being Plato at the Googleplex: Why Philosophy Won’t Go Away (2014). Growing up, Dr. Goldstein was “torn like a character in a Russian novel” over her Orthodox Jewish faith. She observed the tradition for many years but ultimately gave it up and now identifies as an atheist. In 1996, Dr. Goldstein received the prize commonly known as the “Genius Grant.” She was named Humanist of the Year in 2011 by the American Humanist Association, and was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama in 2015. Dr. Goldstein is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
