Dr. Russ Roberts is a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He is also the founder and host of EconTalk, the award-winning weekly economics podcast. The podcast has more than 700 episodes and has drawn such guests as Milton Friedman, Martha Nussbaum, Thomas Piketty, Christopher Hitchens, Bill James, Nassim Taleb, Michael Lewis, Jill Lepore, Eric Topol, Angela Duckworth, and Sebastian Junger. Alongside filmmaker John Papola, Dr. Roberts has created two rap videos on the ideas of John Maynard Keynes and Friedrich Hayek; combined, the videos have generated more than ten million views on YouTube. He has also turned his poem “It’s a Wonderful Loaf” into an animated video, which has more than 1.5 million views. The poem is an ode to emergent order, one of Hayek’s cardinal contributions to political economy. Dr. Roberts’ latest book is called Gambling with Other People's Money: How Perverse Incentives Caused the Financial Crisis (2019). He has also written How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life: An Unexpected Guide to Human Nature and Happiness (2014), among other books.
