Mr. Coleman Hughes is a fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor at City Journal, where his writing focuses on race, public policy, and applied ethics. His writing has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Review, Quillette, and The Spectator. In June 2019, he testified before a House Judiciary subcommittee at a hearing on reparations for slavery, arguing: “If we were to pay reparations today, we would only divide the country further, making it harder to build the political coalitions required to solve the problems facing black people today.” Megan McArdle has called Mr. Hughes “already a thinker to be reckoned with,” while Christopher Bollen wrote in Interview that Mr. Hughes “has become one of the most compelling and promising voices on the political landscape.” Mr. Hughes holds a B.A. in philosophy from Columbia University.
